Week 7

Our thoughts and aroha(love) continue for our Muslim Community in Christchurch.

This tragic event has overshadowed the week. Let us hope that our children will grow up to be compassionate, respectful and kind.

Teddy Bear's Picnic
This has been a highlight of the week. Here are some photos of everyone enjoying lunchtime on Thursday.

Next week, HB 5 will be hosting Timatanga assembly on Friday at 12.00pm in the hall. We hope to see you there.

Cross Country - Helpers

This year's cross country will be held at school on Tuesday 9th April (postponement 11th April).

The event will run from (approx) 10.30am to 12.30pm. A notice detailing the races running order will be sent out shortly, but please save the dates in you diary.

We require some parent help on the day with marshalling duties around the course. Please send an email to Zoe Pullin sports@thorrington.ac.nz if you are able to help.

Trash Lab - Parent Help

Wanted: Parent Power for Thorrington's Trash Lab

Have you heard about Thorrington's Trash Lab? It's a creative space for our children at lunchtimes. It's awesome and it's opening soon for 2019. Look out this week for a flier coming home with your child. In the meantime, check out this video to see what Thorrington kids get up to at the Trash Lab!

Future Ferns Netball

Hi Parents,

Here is a link to register for Future Ferns netball. Thorrington Primary has a few options for junior and non competitive netball. (Note: this is different from year 5/6 school winter sport) . Option 1: Year 1/2 have a weekly skills session at school run by Christchurch netball centre. Year 3/4 play 5 aside netball at Hagley park on Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings, a coach and or manager is required to play in this competition. Year 5/6 play 6 aside netball at Hagley park on Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings, a coach and or manager is required for this competition. I can assist in putting teams together and will try and put the children with their friends. We will host a "Have a Go' day at school on Thursday 7th March, 3.30 - 4.30pm, this is where you can find out more information.

Thanks, Helen Whitley
